Coaching for – and within – organisations
Coaching individuals and teams is a cost-effective and more tailored way of supporting people within organisations to maximise their potential and continue their journey of self discovery; creating a mindset of learning on the job. Confidence, assertiveness, goal setting, time and stress management can be focused on depending on the requirements of the organisation and the individual.
leaders
Sitting at the top of an organisation provides the greatest opportunity to facilitate change and to satisfy your creativity – it is the place where visionaries feel most comfortable. However, it can be a lonely place carrying and communicating your vision to those around you and maintaining motivation down through the organisation. Who do you lean on in the times when you need to formulate or sound out your ideas before you confidently deliver them to your team? Who do you talk to when you unexpectedly feel overwhelmed or when the burden of responsibility starts to affect other areas of your life? The answer is someone who understands the creative entrepreneur and who knows how to hold the space for you to safely and confidentially express and explore.
business start up
You have an idea! You have the expertise but the way there is overwhelming – wearing many different hats and keeping all the balls in the air simultaneously whilst getting your business started can be daunting. The key is understanding your strengths and weaknesses and working out which areas of your business to focus on and which bits to delegate or outsource. The main thing is to hold the vision and the key is to creatively communicate your business to others; to talk about your passion and your belief in it. Your business activity from the top to the bottom should communicate to your customers ‘why’ you are doing it. From a family of business owners/entrepreneurs myself, I understand the challenges and as a coach, can give the right support.
THE TEAM MEETING
I can’t tell you how many boring and unproductive team or board meetings I have sat through in my career. Sometimes you need somebody from outside your organisation who can take a fresh approach to getting a team to work collaboratively and cohesively; who allows everybody an equal voice and encourages creativity, getting the whole group excited about the aims and goals that they have just created together. Someone who can think on their feet and has a deep understanding of people and the empathy to get the best out of them. Every individual is motivated by different things – find that out, and you’re on your way to understanding your team.
moving on up
You have just been promoted and you now have a team of people to manage. Suddenly you feel you need training in goal setting, assertiveness, motivating a team, stress management and time management - yikes! All this can be achieved with a supportive coach to talk to regularly and provide you with the tailored support you need. Sending new managers on outside training courses can be an expensive affair, and does not guarantee that the skills learnt are transposed into the very real challenges within your organisations. A coach deals with what is relevant at any given time, working shoulder-to-shoulder to draw out what works best for you. The cost effective way to support people on the way up.
INSPIRATIONAL SPEAKING - SOUND BITES
Do you need someone to come in and speak about a subject to inspire your staff? My forte is creating learning opportunities within any allocated slot of time on a range of different subjects around the area of people development – just tell me how you want them to feel on their way out! People and the way they think and work is my ‘raison d’etre’. I love engaging, listening and drawing out the best in everybody. Whoever I talk to, I want them to leave having had fun and to take away at least one ‘golden nugget’ that will change their way of thinking for the rest of their life.
group coaching
Coaching is the new training for groups within an organisation. I love working with groups of people talking about all those usual training subjects that come up within all businesses; whether it is vision questing, goal setting, time management, managing and motivating your staff, customer service, assertiveness skills, managing pressure positively, public speaking/presentations. Delivering coaching within your organisation is the most efficient and cost-effective way of creating tailored learning opportunities and continued progress monitoring.
