How does coaching work and why is it so successful?

Life coaching works on the principle that we are all able to find our own answers to our challenges in life, if we are given the time and space to explore the options available to us. A life coach is trained in how to draw out these answers from an individual using honed listening skills and specialist questioning techniques that allow an individual to become more self aware. A coach stands shoulder-to-shoulder with you to support and give confidence to help you be who you want to be, to do what you want to do or to have what you want in life. Most of us have been conditioned all our life by our parents, peers, teachers and friends which only adds to our confusion – we can end up living our life on other people’s terms which can lead to disharmony, dissatisfaction, stress and even ill-health. As we grow up, we lose that natural excitement and curiosity for life which enables us to explore and learn. Working with a life coach revitalizes that yearning to make sense of our world and our place in it, so we can explore our potential in a non-judgmental environment.

An individual may initially work with a coach once a week, or every two weeks where there are some immediate challenges to face or to kick-start moving forward towards a goal. As progress is made and confidence builds, you may only need a session once a month or even dipping in as and when required to maintain momentum. Everybody works at different paces and at certain times requires more or less support. Talking to someone who is totally focused on you is such a unique relationship and so different to anything you will have experienced whilst talking to friends or family.
